How does Invisalign® treatment work?

The first step is to take a virtual scan of your teeth with our amazing 3D iTero digital scanner. This allows our Orthodontist to view a 3D recreation of your smile to help plan your treatment and get the best results possible.

With this scan, we can also develop an Invisalign® ‘Clincheck’ which is a simulation which shows you how your teeth will move over time, and what the end result of the treatment will look like. We can even send this over to you via email for you to view in the comfort of your own home.

Based on this Clincheck, Invisalign® manufactures a series of custom-made plastic aligners to fit your teeth. Every week you will move on to a new set of aligners, each shaped slightly differently to encourage the movement of your teeth into their new position.

Types of Invisalign® treatment

At the practice, we offer different types of Invisalign® treatment, listed below:

Invisalign® Express: This is the fastest of the Invisalign® categories, with treatment lasting on average seven weeks. This category is used for very simple misalignments and minor movements of the front six teeth.

Invisalign® Lite: This category involves a 14-week course of treatment and can achieve substantial movements of the teeth within this time frame.

Invisalign® Comprehensive: This is our full Invisalign® treatment which will treat cases from moderate difficulty to complex misalignments. Treatment in this category would typically take between 4-8 months, however it can be longer depending on the complexity of the case.
